Entertainment in Qatar is expected to grow steadily in the coming years. The country has just recently come to know quality entertainment and concerts. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical production, Cats, was staged here in 2003, and the opera Carmen played during 2004. Shaggy and UB40 have also performed in Qatar. Doha also boasts a national opera and orchestra.
The Doha Players, an English founded large international Community Theatre is regionally renowned for producing several plays and musicals throughout the year where both young and old can perform, run backstage operations or simply enjoy as audience members.
There are several movie theatres, and do try one of the many video rental companies offering the best in movie entertainment.
In addition to hotels and housing compounds, there are several private clubs offering fitness facilities. Most of the private and hotel clubs offer additional services, such as indoor and/or outdoor temperature-controlled swimming pools, Jacuzzis, saunas and steam rooms.
